U.S. News & World Report Unveils “Best Hotels” for Maui & Hawaiʻi
U.S. News & World Report today announced its lists for the 2016 Best Hotels, including destination-specific rankings for Maui and Hawaiʻi. According to a press release announcement, the publication based the rankings on “thousands of independent reviews from individuals and travel industry experts worldwide.”
The Best in Maui list included 17 properties on Maui with the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea topping the list, followed by The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua and the Andaz Maui at Wailea. The Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea property was also ranked at third in the state behind: (1) the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai in Kailua Kona on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, and; (2) the Halekulani in Honolulu on Oʻahu.

The U.S. News & World Report notes that the rankings of top hotels on Maui were based on “an unbiased analysis of awards, expert recommendations and user ratings.”
The top 10 properties on the Best in Hawaiʻi list included the following properties as well as their rankings on the publication’s Best Hotels in the USA list:
- #1 (4 US): Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, Kailua Kona, HI
- #2 (17 US): Halekulani, Honolulu, HI
- #3 (28 US): Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea
- #4 (68 US): The St. Regis Princeville, Princeville, HI
- #5 (73 US): The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, Kapalua, HI
- #6 (100 US): Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Resort, Waimea, HI
- #7 (122 US): Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, Kapolei, HI
- #8 (139 US): The Royal Hawaiian, A Luxury Resort, Honolulu, HI
- #9 (145 US): Andaz Maui at Wailea, Wailea, HI
- #10 (154 US): Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort, Koloa, HI
According to the announcement, the publication evaluated more than 2,500 hotels across the US, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Among the criteria considered was “reputation among professional travel experts, guest reviews and hotel class ratings.”
U.S. News & World Report is described as, “a digital news and information company that empowers people to make better, more informed decisions about important issues affecting their lives.”
